Michael studied Classical Archaeology, Christian Archaeology and Ancient History in Bonn and Berlin. After his Master of Arts with a study on “Original Greek Sculpture in Roman Contexts” he went to Cologne to work at the Research Archive for Ancient Sculpture. His work in different projects all had the intersection ARACHNE. This internationally renowned object database opened his eyes for research on semantic web, ontologies for concepts in cultural heritage documentation and big data. Furthermore his academical research lies on developing concepts to improve teaching archaeology.
