The University of York team has set up the ArchAIDE Portal for publications and outcomes on the Archaeology Data Service. The results of ArchAIDE project are disseminated as open data.
The Portal includes both an Introduction, and Overview section where the project aims, results and different typologies of outcomes are described. Downloads page permits the access and the download to files from different categories: multilingual vocabularies, 2D and 3D models, videos.
Multilingual controlled pottery vocabularies were created by the ArchAIDE project to aid in the cross-searching of catalogues that differ both linguistically and conceptually. ArchAIDE partners and Associates worked to create mappings to the Getty Art & Architecture Thesaurus in a range of European languages (ArchAIDE Mappings). These were then converted into Linked Data SKOS vocabularies using NT serialisation (ArchAIDE Triples). The diagnostic pottery wordlists created by the partners are also available (ArchAIDE Wordlists).
In order to provide the necessary training data for the automated image recognition algorithms for the ArchAIDE project, 2D and 3D models were created from hundreds of pottery profile drawings by the CNR-ISTI Visual Computing Lab (VCL). This includes all the profiles held in the ADS archive Roman Amphorae: a digital resource, which means the comprehensive comparative data for each type and variant has now been augmented with downloadable 2D vector drawings in SVG format, an interactive 3D model using the 3DHOP viewer, and downloadable files in OBJ format for use in both 3D modelling software, and for 3D printing.
The ArchAIDE project had an ambitious communication and dissemination plan, and the video archive represents the documentation of the various phases of the project. It includes elements published on social channels, along with previously unpublished video material. Documentation was carried out by professional videographers from the University of Pisa, but also through self-documentation by partners using mobile phones which was then edited by the Pisa team (see Partners videos). A final 30-minute video documenting the whole project was produced and screened at the final project meeting (Archaeorevolution Challenge: The ArchAIDE Documentary).
In addition to the data archived with ADS, the ArchAIDE software repository includes the code for training and testing the models for both appearance- and shape-based classification models. The repository also includes links to relevant external dependencies, documentation and usage instructions for all the different components.
